Looking for a childbirth class? You've landed in the right place.

Hi! My name is Kate Hodges and I am a labor doula, Lamaze childbirth educator and parent of two crazy kids. My most recent adventure has landed me in nursing school where I have high hopes of becoming a labor and delivery nurse one day. I stay busy but I love taking time to teach childbirth classes and work with new families in Athens, Georgia.

Workshops and Classes

Childbirth Essentials

I've teamed up with yoga teacher extraordinaire, Krista Jones, to teach a short and sweet workshop that will give you all the essential tips and tools you need to feel prepared for birth.  In one afternoon, we will cover a variety of topics including comfort measures, breathing techniques, and positions for laboring and birth. Our session will be a unique mix of discussion, practice and exercise combined with a few home-study activities and thinking exercises presented in a fun and engaging way.

  • 3 hour group workshop taught on Sunday afternoons, 1-4pm

  • Classes are taught in the classroom at Thrive Integrative

  • Pricing - $75 per couple

Scheduled workshops:

  • January 28, 2018
  • Dates for March and May of 2018 coming soon!

Private Birth Classes

Everyone’s situation is different. I offer private classes for those families who would like a class tailored to their priorities and needs. A private session is perfect for busy families who do not have time for a multi-class series, unique situations and families with children at home. With a private session, I will deliver a class perfectly designed to fit your needs and interests.

  • One 3 hour private class taught in your home.
  • Pre and Post-class emails with a customized resource list and plan to round out your educational needs.
  • Pricing - $200 per couple

A few kind words

Kate has a great sense of humor which made the classes so much fun. She gave the medicated and unmedicated side of childbirth facts, side effects to drugs, labor strategies, etc. This class was so helpful for my peace of mind and prepared me for my unmedicated childbirth this past August. You get your money’s worth. I highly recommend!

Kate teaches an amazing childbirth class that is well worth the time! She is very thorough and has a fun personality that helps ease any fears. She creates a comfortable environment in which to talk about such vulnerable and important topics relating to birth.
— Amanda
Kate’s childbirth class was everything we needed and more. With her help, our journey into parenthood started off on the best possible course and we had an amazing birth experience because we were so well prepared and informed. Thank you, Kate! Highly recommend her class to any parents-to-be, especially if you want a natural birth!
